Bhoomi Pooja Anuthan Before Construction
Bhoomi is the mother of all that exists. She is patience personified. When we want to raise a building or till the land for agriculture we bring a change in mother earth. We seekpermission and forgiveness for our actions that disturb the equilibrium of mother earth. The Vedas have special sutras and hymns to appease the various energies residing in the space. We chant the Veda Sutras to nullify any bad effects and to bring peace and prosperity.
Preparation for the Puja:
Family priest sets an auspicious time and date for the puja.
The priest visits the site and chooses the appropriate area for performing the puja, usually the north east corner.
In this chosen place a pit is dug. With roli, chawal and flower, puja is performed.
Puja items mentioned below are placed in a copper kalash or in a plastic box.
Navratans(nine gems)
A tiny piece of gold
A silver coin
Sabut puja supari (whole betel nut)
One stick of turmeric
A little whole green moong
Sabut dhania (coriander seeds)
Dhoop (sambarani)
Gur (jaggery)
This kalash or plastic box is placed in the pit that is dug.
This pit is covered with bricks and cement.
The Vastu Devta (God) is invoked and prayera are offered.
